( uncommon time ) walkthrough part 4
stave;
A series of events will start as soon as you arrive in town. When they're done and you're left with control of Alto alone, go find your party members and then return to the inn to get an event about where to go next.
If you are having trouble finding anyone, they are: (mouseover for spoilers)
Teagan - Near the entrance to the blocked-off west part of town
Saki - At the bar in the inn
Meirin - On the outcropping in the mid-north part of town, with the children
Aubrey - At the bar in the inn
Stock up on weapons and items, because the next dungeon is lengthy.
Hidden Items:
minuet forest;
This dungeon will be a long trek, so swap out your party members back and forth to conserve your fighting strength.
Ignore the suspicious tree in area 8 for now; you won't be going that way for quite a while yet.
Once you hit area 10 you'll be in for a boss fight, so heal and save beforehand.
Items:
boss: wind fairy;
Recommended Level: 20
This boss is weak to earth and uses a lot of wind magic as you might expect, so be sure to include Teagan in your roster and equip Aubrey with the Opal Drops if you want them present. As with all the other fairies, she can heal herself if she is inflicted with Poison or Burn.
There are still a few more areas left to go before you're out of the woods (ha), but you're considerably closer to the exit than you were, so keep going.
Items:
bel canto;
Congratulations on arriving at your destination! The story focus will now be on slice of life for a while, so get ready for a lot of interactive events.
Bel Canto is the largest city, and is also the first one to offer an accessory store. You can buy musical accessories at the instrument rental store, as well.
While there are no hidden items here, it may be worth your while to poke around characters' rooms, and investigating the statue in the middle of the town square will make a puzzle in the next dungeon considerably easier. If you are lost, the NPC in the town square can tell you where everything is.
But if you don't want to bother with that, here's a map:
Bel Canto On A Square Grid:
First go to the mayor's house to introduce yourself and obtain the Manor Key. From there head to the Cantabile mansion and try going in for a cutscene. After that, hoof it back across town to the instrument rental store and talk to the left-hand clerk.
Do your shopping and any remaining level grinding to get them out of the way, and then go back to the Cantabile mansion to call it a day.
rehearsal day 1;
If you try to leave after the cutscene you'll be prompted to go find Aubrey. They are in the basement. Talk to them to get them back in the party, and then go to the census office and talk to the clerk there.
Go to Polyphony. Asking the other NPCs will get you told to go find Lady Rebecca, who is hiding in her room on the second floor of the town hall.
After you've spoken to her, go through Libretto and enter Folio. Speak to the left-hand library lady to obtain the Census Records, then go down to the printing press to get a copy. Return the book to the library so that you'll be able to leave town, and return to Bel Canto.
Your errand will be over when you speak with the census clerk, and returning to the Cantabile mansion afterwards will make the story progress.
It is difficult to cross Minuet Forest with only Alto and Aubrey in your party, but not impossible, so feel free to stock up on items and do so if you feel like a challenge. Otherwise go ahead and Quick Jump across everything.
On day 1, Teagan is in the practice room, Saki is in his room, and Meirin can be found loitering outside the shelter.
rehearsal day 2;
After the cutscene, leave the practice room and Meirin will join the party automatically. Leave the mansion and head to the town square for another event, then go to the grocery store for a third event. Finally, return to the mansion and enter the kitchen to move the story onward.
On day 2, Teagan and Aubrey are in the mansion foyer, and Saki can be found at the town square.
rehearsal day 3;
After the cutscene, leaving the practice room will make Teagan and Aubrey join the party automatically. First go to the graveyard for an event, and then head to the monument (which will then open up) for a second event. Return to the mansion to end the day's events.
On day 3, Saki and Meirin can be found in the dining room.
After the cutscene, you will need to round up the rest of your party members. They must be found in order this time, and are all over the town.
Here are their locations if you're having trouble finding them (mouseover):
Aubrey - In the graveyard, in front of Arietta's grave
Meirin - At the town square, in front of the statue
Saki - In front of Arietta's monument
Once you've found them all, return to the mansion. Go to Alto's room and examine the bed to sleep.
The party will automatically be back together in the morning, so head to the monument for a cutscene, and you will then progress onward to Metronome Tower.
This is the last dungeon in Movement One, so if you have anything you still mean to do, now is a good time to take care of it.
metronome tower;
ANY ITEMS THAT YOU MISS IN THIS DUNGEON WILL BE LOST FOREVER, so make sure you get everything on the way up. Some of the items in chests are door keys, so if you miss them on the way up you'll be forced to backtrack.
The optimal party for this area is Alto, Saki, Meirin, and Aubrey, since magic-users will do more damage, and Alto's attacks have more firepower than Teagan's right now.
The first floor is fairly straightforward, but do not miss the key.
You can progress straight to the third floor from the second, but explore the right and left hallways (reachable through the north door) or you'll have to backtrack to get the treasure later.
On the third floor, flip the switches at the end of both halls to open the door.
The fourth floor's door must be opened by solving two riddles based on the poem found in Bel Canto's town square. If you read the poem, you can select answers from a drop-down menu, but if you did not, you must enter the appropriate answer via a password screen (all caps, all lowercase, and first letter capitalized will all be accepted.
The answers are (mouseover):
West - Spring
East - Winter
The fifth floor's door must be opened with the four keys from the blue treasure chests. If you didn't already pick up the two on the lower floors, you will need to backtrack and do that now.
The sixth floor only has a healing circle. Once you go up the stairs, you will watch a cutscene and then fight a boss.
Items:
boss: winterspirit;
Recommended Level: 25
Equip Pearl Drops on at least Alto and Meirin if they are in your party. I recommend bringing Teagan back in for this boss fight. Keep the party healed with Saki or Aubrey, whoever you have with you, and whale on the boss with your strongest attacks. Meirin's Strawberry Tart will come in handy if she has learned it (and she should have by now). If Aubrey's level is high enough that they have learned Capriccio, that will also be helpful. Alto's Brillante ignores enemy defense, so use it a lot. If you're very lucky the boss will get hit with status ailments.
After the boss battle comes another cutscene. When you regain control all your party members other than Alto will be KO'ed, and the recovery circle that used to be on 6F is missing, so either use items, Saki's Judgment spell, or a combination of both to revive everyone. Then head back down. Ten minutes seems like plenty of time to get out of a dungeon until monsters are attacking you; as long as you don't dawdle and aren't trying to pick up missed items, you should make it out with time to spare.
After the events have ended and you have control of Alto again, go talk to the mayor and try to leave town. Once you've gotten your key back, you will automatically be sent to the overworld map.
This is the end of Movement One.
